Teacher evaluation is widely regarded as a compliance exercise and contributed little to teaching and learning. Kim has pioneered a more promising approach: short, frequent, systematic classroom visits always followed by a face-to-face conversation with the teacher, using a rubric at the end of the school year to sum up these conversations and other points of contact. Kim is also piloting an AI tool that deftly summarizes these conversations, building co-ownership and saving paperwork. This approach promises to affirm what's going well in classrooms and continuously improve day-to-day teaching and learning.
